Ellis Capp

Ellis joined the ORI in October 2023 as a DPhil student from Lincoln College, supervised by Professor Perla Maiolino in the Soft Robotics Lab. He took his MEng degree from the University of Oxford (also in Lincoln College), with a focus on mechanical and control engineering. For his master’s project, he modelled and implemented torque vectoring algorithms on Oxford Uni Racing’s Formula Student vehicle, where he developed a keen interest in embedded systems.

His research is on large-area sensing, with an eye towards improving proprioception in soft robots.
