Biography

Gemma joined ORI in July 2019 as the Project Manager and was responsible for providing pre-award support along with post-award project management.

Gemma was a Programme Assistant, promoted to Project Support Officer at the British Antarctic Survey.  Projects included: ICE-ARC (FP7, 12M euro project coordinated by BAS, PI: Dr Jeremy Wilkinson), SPACESTORM (FP7, £2.5M project coordinated by BAS, PI: Prof Richard Horne) and EU-PolarNet (H2020, coordinated by AWI).  She was also a Frameworks Coordinator for Oxford Policy Management (DFID GEFA, FCAS), and a Maritime Intelligence Analyst for a private security firm.

Gemma has a BA Hons degree in Politics and History of the Middle East with Arabic (Durham University), a BSc Hons degree in Environmental Studies (Open University) and a PG Cert in Biodiversity, Wildlife & Ecosystem Health (University of Edinburgh).

Gemma is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a STEM Ambassador.  In her spare time, she is a D of E Expedition Leader and keen amateur sailor.
